E at=EEt de evident că, =EEn timp, critica = literară n-a fost prea=20 generoasă cu Petru Cimpoesu, =EEnc=EEt nu cred că e cazul unei = analize a dovezilor=20 elocvente. Măcar, unii dintre noi stiu acum că un prozator cu = numele acesta=20 există. P=EEnă nu demult, eu =EEnsumi trăiam cu impresia = că Petru Cimpoesu a debutat=20 după 1989 (c=EEnd debutul se produsese tocmai =EEn 1983), fapt care = vorbeste=20 deopotrivă despre ignoranta mea si despre anacronica lipsă de = ecou a=20 literaturii; =96 dacă nu cumva mai ales despre hazardul =96 at=EEt = de incitant, de=20 altfel, pentru Petru Cimpoesu =96 care guvernează receptarea = literaturii. =CEn fine,=20 =EEncaltea să credem că lipsa de generozitate a criticii = ascunde sansa=20 romancierului de a ajunge, nepervertit de nici un fel de intermediar, pe = masa=20 cititorului de romane. =CEn ce mă priveste, as vrea să cred = că, după Povestea=20 Marelui Brigand (2000) si după Simion liftnicul = (2001), ultimul=20 roman al lui Petru Cimpoesu, Christina Domestica si V=EEnătorii = de suflete=20 (Humanitas, 2006), nu mai este pentru cititorul acesta nepervertit = o=20 surpriză. Ceea ce nu =EEnseamnă neapărat că el si = =EEntelege sofisticatele mecanisme=20 de penumbre pe care autorul =EEsi edifică lumea, chiar dacă = =EEi pot crea iluzia=20 accesibilitătii. Nefiind chiar cinic, desi, =EEn orice caz, ludic = este, Petru=20 Cimpoesu nu e străin de un joc al aparentelor, tesut cu mare = finete, care lasă=20 la vedere, ca o eficientă capcană, hohotul de r=EEs si = reflexul citirii oblice a=20 lumii imediate.
=CEn fine, chiar dacă stiu că va părea = hazardat (oho, cu totul=20 hazardat), de nu cumva chiar arbitrar, cred că miza acestei ultime = cărti a lui=20 Petru Cimpoesu priveste felul =EEn care Diavolul =96 sau, mai = degrabă, Dumnezeu (si=20 se va vedea de ce o astfel de substituire e posibilă) =96 este = =EEnscris =EEn istoria=20 imediată. Cu toate acestea (cum să n-o recunosc?), cartea = aceasta răm=EEne p=EEnă la=20 capăt un roman burlesc, care nu ridică explicit cortina = hohotului de r=EEs si nici=20 pe aceea a interpretării alegorice pentru a arăta povestea = ascunsă =EEn spatele=20 detaliilor, ori pentru a lăsa, la vedere, o interogatie = metafizică pe care o=20 consider =EEntemeietoare. Si toate acestea se =EEnt=EEmplă pentru = că, pare să ne spună=20 Petru Cimpoesu, =EEn primul r=EEnd, povestea =EEnsăsi nu = mai poate exista =EEn=20 afara unor complicatii care o fac ireductibilă la o = desfăsurare simplă si la=20 vedere si, =EEn al doilea r=EEnd, pentru că =EEn lumea =EEn care = trăim (ca si =EEn aceea a=20 romanului), orice interogatie metafizică nu depăseste nivelul = =EEnt=EEmplării=20 derizorii, periferice, mediatizate cu stupefactie. Iată de ce avem = de-a face=20 aici, dincolo de o suprafata at=EEt de spectaculoasă, cu un = labirint si cu un=20 carnaval.
Suprafată spectaculoasă? Poate că suprafata = aceasta ascunde ea=20 =EEnsăsi un miez. Aproape jubilativ (dar jubilatia este a ironiei), = Petru Cimpoesu=20 instituie o lume =EEn care datele de roman s.f. ori de roman magic = s=EEnt generate=20 si sustinute de factologia cea mai umil terestră. Totul, = p=EEnă si ideea=20 revelatiei, e cobor=EEt =EEntr-un nivel domestic si căzut, = =EEnc=EEt derizoriul=20 rom=E2nilor, =EEntr-un amestec aiuritor de fabulatie, obsesie si = inconsistentă, tine=20 loc de ontologie. Tocmai de aceea, o lume a paradoxului si a absurdului. =
Aflată =EEn administratie rom=E2nească, dar ocupată = de baze militare americane,=20 insula Roland din Pacificul de Sud, care va fi pierdută =EEn 1989, = odată cu=20 revolutia de la Bucuresti, este deopotrivă un topos simbolic si de = o concretete=20 teribilă. =CEn paranteză fie zis, aflăm, ca indice al = certitudinii existentei ei,=20 că =84nici Ion Iliescu, nici Emil Constantinescu si nici cei sase = prim-ministri,=20 care s-au perindat p=EEnă la =EEnceputul anului 2001 la conducerea = guvernului, n-au=20 aflat că au pierdut insula Roland =96 din cauză că nu = stiuseră că o aveau=94.=20 Asadar, un spatiu izolat (si ironic, la nivel ontologic) =EEn care totul = e altceva=20 dec=EEt pare, =EEn care mesagerii vin după zece ani, =EEn care = putini =EEsi mai cunosc=20 misiunea. Altfel, peste tot agenti secreti, extraterestri (a se citi, = eventual,=20 securisti), conspiratii, societăti oculte, microfoane, dar si = trafic de droguri=20 ori de petrol, =EEntr-o poveste aiuritoare, a cărei miză = ultimă pare să fie=20 interogatia privind disparitia Rom=E2niei. Fireste, o disparitie prin = implozie. Ce=20 se =EEntelege prin implozie?! Iată ce spune Bazil, primul scriitor = al acestor=20 fapte, cel care se sinucide din lipsă de umor si poate din = disperare, căci =96 si=20 de aici confuzia, =EEntretinută cu grijă =96 de la paranoica = obsesie colectivă a=20 conspiratiei universale p=EEnă la disperarea individuală = hrănită de neputintă nu-i=20 dec=EEt un pas: =84Mai =EEnt=EEi, vidul interior! Apoi fisurile! =CEn = final, dezordinea,=20 confuzia generală si prăbusirea! La fel cum s-a =EEnt=EEmplat = si cu asa-zisa=20 revolutie din 1989. Numai fraierii au crezut că s-a =EEnt=EEmplat = ceva. =CEn=20 realitate, nu a fost dec=EEt o halucinatie colectivă, = controlată de securisti de=20 la un capăt la altul, ca să ajungă la putere cei care = erau deja la putere. De=20 data asta, nu va mai fi nevoie să fie ucisi oameni, e de-ajuns = dacă se iau=20 deciziile cele mai proaste. De exemplu, vor fi determinati să-i = aleagă pe cei=20 mai t=EEmpiti dintre ei să-i conducă. Copiii vor fi = =EEnvătati de mici să mintă, să=20 fure si să facă rău. Justitia =EEi va condamna pe = nevinovati si-i va achita pe=20 criminali. Cei capabili vor fi tinuti deoparte, trimisi la munci umile = sau=20 lăsati să crape de foame. Iar oamenii cinstiti, dacă vor = mai fi, vor =EEnnebuni de=20 bunăvoie. Astfel =EEnc=EEt, =EEn cele din urmă, Rom=E2nia va = deveni invizibilă si va=20 dispărea de pe hartă, ca insula Roland=94. La drept vorbind, = insula Roland nu-i=20 dec=EEt Ro-land, adică imaginea condensată a rom=E2nilor... = =96 rolanzi care se=20 declară handicapati pentru a primi ajutor social, rolanzi care, sub = forma=20 adoptiilor internationale, exportă copii =96 si lucrurile nu se = opresc aici. O=20 poveste care este dovada lipsei substantiale de adevăr.
Pe = l=EEngă această=20 antiutopie (care o dublează pe aceea a meta-omului), Petru Cimpoesu = face o=20 radiografie acidă a obsesiilor, frustrărilor si trăirilor = derizorii ale=20 locuitorilor tăr=EEmului Ro. Jocul toponimelor, cu = =EEncărcătura sa de gratuitate si=20 de satiră (The Baakho Monitor, Moyntown, Bohoosh), = transformă insula=20 Roland =EEntr-o teritoriu recognoscibil, cu o referentialitate = precisă. Dar nu=20 această oblicitate =EEn imediat constituie miza romanului. La acest = nivel, as=20 crede mai degrabă =EEn =EEncărcătura pe care o pot aduce = numele personajelor. Dacă=20 =EEnt=EEmplător personajele lui Petru Cimpoesu se vor fi numind = Vic, maiorul Smith,=20 Pablo, Bill Waks, ceea ce =EEncă nu cred, =EEn nici un caz numele = dr. Thomas si al=20 Christinei nu s=EEnt alese la =EEnt=EEmplare. Să fie Christina, cea = care, =EEntr-o=20 spirală umană născută din impostură, = trăieste fără voie experienta levitatiei,=20 ipostaza feminină a unui Christ care supravietuieste oricărei = căderi? Oric=EEte=20 explicatii s-ar găsi levitatiei Christinei (de la vertijurile = datorate=20 propriului ciclu p=EEnă la efectele halucinogene provocate de = extraterestri),=20 fenomenul e invocat =EEn final si legitimat de oameni seriosi, precum = filozoful L.=20 Este motivul pentru care Pablo vorbeste despre un happy-end, = fiind,=20 totusi, deodată =84obosit si cam fără chef=94. E felul = lui Petru Cimpoesu de a ne=20 spune =96 spre deosebire de Bazil, care, din disperare si = neputintă, s-a consumat=20 pe sine =96 că revelatia continuă să existe si =EEn = declin.
Oricum, faptele=20 ascund coincidente surprinzătoare si relatii oculte, =EEntr-o = tesătură al cărei=20 desen secret nu mai este  accesibil nimănui. Totul este, = asadar, străin,=20 desi pare sub control, personajele =EEnsele s=EEnt implicate uneori =EEn = misiuni pe=20 care nu le mai cunosc, iar altele intră fără voie =EEn = scenarii cărora nu le=20 prevăd finalitatea si cărora le vor cădea pradă. = =CEn fine, o lume =EEn care totul=20 pare mutat =EEn iluzie, desi stă cu rădăcinile =EEn cea = mai brută realitate. Nu e=20 vorba numai de crime, conspiratii, trafic ilegal de droguri. E vorba si = de=20 foarte multe teorii stiintifice. Personajele sau naratorul (ironic = uneori,=20 identic lumii sale, altă dată) vehiculează nume dintre = cele mai diferite. O=20 interpretare a romanului ar putea urmări (cu folos, fără = =EEndoială) felul =EEn care=20 Pitagora, Descartes, Toma d=92Aquino, Bertrand Russel, Jastrow, Heinz = Pagels,=20 G=F6edel, Swedenborg sau Max Plank si teoriile invocate =EEn = legătură cu ei oferă=20 solutii pentru a construi cheia cu care să deschizi (ca pe o cutie = =96 si vom=20 vedea de ce asa) romanul lui Petru Cimpoesu. Dincolo de legitimitatea = (pentru=20 unii, =EEndoielnică) a unei astfel de raportări, tot acest = amestec de nume=20 vorbeste de la sine despre labirint si carnaval, despre colportaj si = iluzie.=20 Ceea ce nu =EEnseamnă că iluzia nu ascunde un adevăr. =
=CEn ce mă priveste, cred=20 că citatul din Toma d=92Aquino (care vorbeste despre forma care = poate să fiinteze=20 si fără materie) oferă o premisă de la care se poate = porni =EEn interpretare. Dar=20 ce este această formă? Deopotrivă, poate, mecanismul care = stă la temelia=20 aglomerării aiuristice de =EEnt=EEmplări (al căror sens e = de nedescifrat) si=20 expresia paradoxală a unui spirit ordonator. Deopotrivă, deci, = Diavolul si=20 Dumnezeu. Sau, iată: maiorul Smith =EEsi =EEncepe un nou raport = către superiori,=20 invoc=EEnd teoria lui G=F6edel, potrivit căreia =84un sistem de = axiome suficient de=20 bogat conduce inevitabil la rezultate fie indecise, fie = contradictorii=94. Este,=20 poate, cea mai bună definire a romanului lui Petru Cimpoesu, care, = din această=20 perspectivă, e oglindirea fidelă a crizei care defineste lumea = contemporană. As=20 mai invoca doar experimentul cunoscut sub numele de Pisica lui=20 Sch=F6rodinger. Conform lui Sch=F6rodinger, at=EEta vreme = c=EEt cutia=20 răm=EEne =EEnchisă, pisica din ea, aflată acolo = =EEmpreună cu un atom radioactiv a=20 cărui dezintegrare nu e o certitudine, este simultan vie si = moartă. De-aici=20 pornind, discutiile despre incertitudinea legată de adevăr si = realitate din=20 lumea lui Petru Cimpoesu (si din lume, =EEn general). Să ne = păstrăm, =EEnsă, cum o=20 face autorul =EEnsusi, umorul. O discutie de felul acesta despre pisici = =96 =EEn=20 conditiile =EEn care siamezele de aici, care ucid, nu-s dec=EEt ambalaje = (ce-i=20 drept, vii) pentru droguri =96 e cea mai bună dovadă a = apetentelor ludice ale lui=20 Petru Cimpoesu.
Oricum, romanul lui nu-i deloc o constructie la voia = =EEnt=EEmplării, dar jocul despre care el tine neapărat = să ne vorbească este acela=20 al hazardului, ilustrat prea bine prin miscările pieselor =EEn = jocul de biliard.=20 Un joc a cărui miză ontologică e explicită: = =84Dacă filosofii ar juca biliard, ar=20 =EEntelege mai bine lumea=94, citim =EEntr-un loc. Nu stim dacă = maiorul Smith =EEsi=20 asumă rolul pe care =EEl joacă (de altfel, nimeni nu stie = aici, =EEn acest mecanism=20 complicat, cine este de fapt), dar plăcerea lui de a juca biliard, = deseori cu un=20 adversar imaginar pe care =EEl substituie, atrage atentia asupra = =EEntrebării=20 fundamentale dacă destinul e o functie a divinitătii sau una a = demonicului. De=20 aici si lipsa de preocupare pentru cine c=EEstigă. =CEn fond, e o = lume =EEn care, cum=20 citim =EEntr-un loc, nimeni nu are nici o vină si toti =EEsi fac = datoria. =CEn fine,=20 iată c=EEteva consideratii referitoare la jocul de biliard: Maiorul = Smith =EEnvătase=20 că =84relatia dintre cauză si efect nu e c=EEtusi de putin una = liniară si=20 previzibilă, desi jocul se bazează pe regulile mecanicii = clasice iar legea=20 conservării impulsului functionează impecabil=94; sau: = Pregătit să-si dea demisia,=20 maiorul =EEncepu să mediteze la =84o definitie c=EEt mai = completă a destinului=94, care=20 implică aflarea la =84discretia hazardului=94 si care = legitimează paradoxul conform=20 căruia relatiile pot fi deopotrivă =84deterministe si = imprevizibile=94. Cuv=EEntul=20 care denumeste această realitate?! =96 impredictibilitate. = Iată:=20 =84Loviturile pe care le primeste si le transmite mai departe (bila de = biliard,=20 n.n.) se supun, la r=EEndul lor, anumitor reguli ale mecanicii clasice, = put=EEnd fi=20 reprezentate vectorial, iar traiectoria depinde =EEn bună = măsură de aceste=20 lovituri. Rostogolirea ei =EEntr-o directie sau alta, oric=EEt de = indecisă si=20 complicată, poate fi decisă printr-o functie matematică. = Si totusi, undeva=20 răm=EEne un rest cu care nimeni nu prea stie ce să facă. = Restul acela =96 de fapt,=20 cuv=EEntul destin se referă chiar la el =96 poate schimba = brusc=20 configuratia =EEntregului c=EEmp de semnificatii, produc=EEnd finalmente = ceva foarte=20 asemănător haosului. C=EEteodată e doar un fir de praf, = neprevăzut de niciuna din=20 ecuatiile miscării; alteori, o mică, insesizabilă ezitare = a jucătorului, sau un=20 capriciu de ultim moment, numit de obicei inspiratie=94. Pe l=EEngă = suprafata=20 socială si politică, cu =EEncărcătura sa = fabulatorie, acesta este spectacolul=20 lumii pe care Petru Cimpoesu pare să-l urmărească, = tulburat si fascinat. De=20 aceea, devin mai mult dec=EEt relevante afirmatii precum =84Nimic nu = anunta ce urma=20 să se =EEnt=EEmple=94 sau =84=CEndată după ce se trezi, = (Pablo, n.n.) părea că stie nu=20 numai unde se află, ci si tot ce se =EEnt=EEmplase =EEntre timp. = Singurul neajuns era=20 că ce stia el nu se potrivea deloc cu ce se =EEnt=EEmplase de = fapt=94.  De=20 asemenea, iată de ce, cum citim =EEntr-un titlu de subcapitol, = =84toate povestile=20 s=EEnt adevărate=94.
Să ne =EEntoarcem la o afirmatie = referitoare la Pablo: =84De=20 fapt, nimic nu-i conditionase alegerea, o luase la dreapta, =EEn loc s-o = ia la=20 st=EEnga, asta e tot. E posibil ca, indiferent =EEn ce directia ar fi = luat-o,=20 consecintele să fi fost aceleasi=94. Să ne =EEntoarcem la o = astfel de afirmatie=20 pentru a =EEntelege dacă a trăi =84la cheremul = =EEnt=EEmplării=94, =EEn acest veritabil=20 cosmar social, este consecinta prezentei demonicului sau a divinului = =EEn lume?=20 Stim bine, Dumnezeu nu joacă zaruri, dar dacă joacă el = biliard?! Despre=20 impredictibilitate, adică despre restul numit destin, = Cimpoesu=20 precizează că nu-i altceva dec=EEt un mod =84mai savant de a = spune că diavolul stă=20 ascuns =EEn detalii=94. Aglomerarea de detalii, iată haosul. Si = totusi, găsesc=20 =EEntr-unul din caietele lui Cioran că =84Demiurgul e numit =EEn = ebraică=20 Ialdaba=F4th, adică =ABfiu al haosului=BB=94. Poate nu vom = sti niciodată cu=20 adevărat ce s=EEnt detaliile (=EEn lume si =EEn romanul lui Petru = Cimpoesu) p=EEnă c=EEnd=20 nu vom deschide cutia =EEn care se află pisica lui Schr=F6dinger. = Conform lui Ilya=20 Prigogine, invocat =EEn roman, =84toate posibilitătile se = actualizează, coexistă si=20 interferează, astfel =EEnc=EEt sistemul este =EEn acelasi timp tot = ce el ar putea fi=94.=20 Dar ce =EEnseamnă a deschide această cutie? Pe fondul = hohotului de r=EEs, uneori=20 amuzat, alteori cinic, romanul lui Petru Cimpoesu formulează, = =EEnsă, această=20 =EEntrebare si speranta că materia e locuită =EEncă, fie = si la granita derizoriului,=20 cu spirit. El construieste doar cutia si speră (de aici = happy-end-ul) că=20 levitatia există cu adevărat, fie si =EEntr-un spatiu degradat = si, din punct de=20 vedere ontologic, inconsistent. =CEn fapt, a spune că =84indiferent = =EEn ce directia=20 ar fi luat-o, consecintele să fi fost aceleasi=94 =EEnseamnă a = afirma, =EEn planul=20 adevărului, si nu al realitătii, primatul ordinii.
Dar = poate că mă =EEnsel si=20 n-am produs, la r=EEndu-mi, dec=EEt o teorie aiuristică despre = acest roman, ea=20 =EEnsăsi rod al demonicului (sau poate al divinului?!). Oricum, o = ipoteză generată=20 de imaginar. Căci, ne =EEntrebăm dimpreună cu Petru = Cimpoesu, cum vom sti ce se=20 petrece =EEn realitatea obiectivă? Si ce =EEnseamnă realitate = obiectivă? =CEntrebări=20 ironice si, deopotrivă, grave. =CEn ce mă priveste, cred = că Petru Cimpoesu riscă=20 si un răspuns...
